The Seasons of Woman
“I’ve always thought that a woman’s life is like a tree: it changes with time, but it never stops growing.
In The Seasons of Woman, I wanted to represent three moments of that journey. Each figure carries within her a different tree, because each stage of our lives has its own way of blossoming, transforming, and leaving its mark.
The first woman represents youth, that time full of energy, curiosity, and possibilities. Her tree grows toward the light and is full of leaves, like the dreams that still wait to become reality.
The second represents fullness. Her tree is full of life, leaves, flowers, fruit, and small birds. It is the stage in which we give, build, care, and share. It is also the moment when we discover that our own life can become a refuge for others.
The third woman represents a more serene stage. Her tree has lost many of its leaves, but its branches continue to spread, and its roots remain firm. For me, this is not an image of loss, but of wisdom. Over the years, we learn that we don’t need to be Always blossoming to remain alive.
The roots that appear on the three trees are essential to me. They represent our story: what we have learned, the people we have loved, the difficulties we have overcome, and the experiences that have shaped us into who we are. Though our seasons change, our roots remain.
I also wanted to leave small details of color and life among the branches, because even in the quietest times, there is always something that can surprise us, bring us joy, or reawaken our hope.
With this work, I didn't want to represent a specific age. I wanted to represent transformation. Because a woman doesn't cease to be who she was when she becomes who she is. Each stage remains within her, like the rings of a tree.
For me, The Seasons of Woman is a celebration of all those versions of ourselves: the woman who dreamed, the woman who built, and the woman who learned to see life with different eyes.
In the end, we are all like trees: we change with the seasons, we lose some leaves, we blossom again, and we continue to grow while our roots remind us of where we came from. We're coming.
